Urgent Support

If you need to talk to someone, below are a number of helplines you can contact for confidential non-judgemental support.

Most helplines can provide a listening service, give information and advice, provide emotional support or point you in the direction of other services. They are often free-phone services which are staffed by trained volunteers or employees.

If you or someone you know is at risk of suicide or self-harm, you should make contact immediately with one of the following:

  • Phone or go to your local doctor
  • Go to the Accident & Emergency department of the nearest hospital
  • Call 999

If you are concerned that you or a family member/friend have a mental health problem you should seek the advice and support of your GP.

Helplines:

Qualifications/ training:

At Mentis Holistic each practitioner has been trained to the highest standards in their field.

  • Counsellors must hold a minimum level 8 Degree qualification in Counselling or psychotherapy.
  • Psychotherapists/ Psychoanalysts must hold a minimum Masters qualification in Counselling and/or Psychotherapy and be fully accredited.
  • Play Therapists / Adolescent therapists must have obtained an undergraduate or post graduate training, have completed further specialist training in the area of Child/Adolescent therapy and hold full accreditation.
  • Trainee Counsellors / Psychotherapists working at Mentis must have graduated from an Undergraduate or Postgraduate course and be working towards full accreditation under a clinical supervision.
  • All other practitioners such as Nutritionists, Reiki and Massage specialists) will be fully certified in their area of specialism and hold professional personal indemnity.
  • All of the above must engage in regular continuous professional development in their areas of specialism and are bound by a code of ethics.
